1/350 DML Ohio RC conversion

The Ohio class SSBN is the largest and most powerful submarine in U.S. Navy. It carries nuclear missiles, torpedoes, and lots of other weapons.

At 1/350 scale, this model kit has very small internal space. The shortest distance at missile deck(constant section) region is only about 1inch(25mm) or maybe less!! Portion of missile deck is cut and removed, so WPCPU can be fitted inside the hull.

Like other examples, RC converting a static display plastic model typically involves the following steps:(The technical CD ROM have lots more info and detail. Submarine FAQ page also have some explanations about the conversion examples here.)

1. Fabricating and installing functional rudders, stabilizer, propeller shaft... The same 3-blade propeller as Skipjack was used in Ohio.

2. Fitting the DD-WPCPU into the sub. The single motor drive unit was used in Ohio

3. Ballasting and testing the sub. Ohio in the pool
