(9/15/2007)
Trumpeter has two versions of gato: 1941 and 1944. 1941 is the one being converted here. Trumpeter's Gato(1:144) is larger than Monogram Lionfish(1:178). With larger internal space, more equipments can be fitted inside the hull.

In addition to basic sub components such as linkage, drive shaft, this sub also has a proportionally controlled ballast tank and port/starboard light via optical fiber.

Here are some of Trumpeter Gato's RC conversion steps:( Technical CD ROM has more detail) The same steps can be applied to Trumpeter's other Gato(1944 version) for RC operation.

1. LED via Optical fiber for port/starboard light. ON/OFF by PUREMTC ESW-1 RC switch

2. Proportionally controlled ballast tank(WAPBS) for the 1941 Gato. Puremtc PBC-1 Proportional Ballast tank Controller

3. 1941 Gato's SD-WPCPU. (Servos and propulsion motor are in rectangular compartment). The photo shows the advantage of WPCPU's modular architecture-freedom of relocating servo module. Trumpeter gato and Trumpeter Kilo use the same WPCPU. The servo compartment for Gato is in the front for controlling bow plane vs. in the rear section for the Kilo.
